About FOFUS

FOFUS is Kerala's leading custom 3D printing, sacred art, and hardware innovation platform — operated by GNILABS LLP from our manufacturing studio in Thommana, Irinjalakuda, Thrissur, Kerala 680683.

We manufacture custom 3D printed products — religious idols, home decor, personalized gifts, educational models, jewellery, and industrial prototypes — all made to order and shipped pan-India. We also operate a walk-in makerspace offering 3D printer and scanner rental to students, engineers, and researchers in Thrissur district.

Our Founder

Akshay Jojo is the founder of FOFUS and GNILABS LLP. A Mechatronics Engineering graduate, Akshay combines deep technical expertise in materials science, robotics, and additive manufacturing with a genuine passion for Kerala's cultural heritage and the intersection of ancient craft traditions with modern technology.

Research & Technical Background

Akshay has published peer-reviewed research on heat-responding artificial muscles and soft robotic actuators in Materials Today: Proceedings (Elsevier / ScienceDirect). His paper — "Linear actuator using heat-responding artificial muscle" — investigates nylon-based HTPA (Heat-responding Twisted Polymer Actuator) technology, thermoelectric control modelling, and self-sensing linear actuation systems that mimic the structure of human muscle.

This work positions Akshay among a very small group of researchers in India actively publishing on soft actuator systems and artificial muscle technology — a field with transformative applications in prosthetics, minimally invasive surgery, wearable exoskeletons, soft robotics, and defence systems.

His current research direction targets building India's foundational infrastructure for soft robotics and artificial muscle manufacturing — the materials science, fabrication methods, and precision hardware that this field will require as it scales commercially over the next decade.

Hardware Innovation

Akshay built his own custom Klipper-based 3D printer from the ground up — designing the motion system, calibrating the firmware, and optimizing it for the specific materials and tolerances required by FOFUS's product lines. This is not a hobbyist build — it reflects a deep understanding of motion control, thermodynamics, and precision manufacturing at the hardware level.

He is currently developing a 3-printer ML-assisted manufacturing system — using machine learning to optimize print parameters, detect failures in real time, and autonomously manage multi-printer farm operations. When complete, this will be among the most technically advanced small-scale additive manufacturing systems built in India by an independent founder.

Culture & Technology

Born and raised in Irinjalakuda — steps from the Koodalmanikyam Temple, one of the four sacred Nalambalam Ramayana temples of Thrissur district — Akshay has a deep personal connection to Kerala's spiritual and artistic heritage. This is what drives 3D Divine, FOFUS's sacred art sub-brand: the belief that Kerala's centuries-old sculptural traditions deserve to be preserved, democratized, and made accessible to devotees everywhere in India through modern manufacturing.
